The exhibition limbs melting into stone pillars functions like a manual that is folded into a gallery space. Subject of the manual is a physical research on impact that was led by Johannes Schropp in collaboration with Alex Piasente, Hanna Launikovich, Ira Wichert, Islam Elnebishy, Kai Eng Er, Mara Kirchberg, Mikosch Loutsenko and Raha Dehghani Vinicheh in spring/summer 2022. In this frame, Butter Building came up as a tactic of negotiating boundaries and investigating care within situations where bodies are inflicted with pressure/impact. Butter Building is a body practice dealing with issues of softness in hardness. It aims at finding release in contraction and tests bodies towards their intrinsic capacity to being hard and soft at the same time.

Yet instead of only reading a book on the results of this physical research (thinking about books portraying other physical practices e.g. Qi Gong or Yoga, containing  exercises, examples and background knowledge to make the specific practice understandable) the audience is here entering a liminal space that invites them for a more embodied experience.
